Description

Tasting Notes:

The 2017 Unwritten is a consummate example of a young, fresh Cabernet Sauvignon, that is accessible and enjoyable now but has the density and complexity to evolve into a truly epic wine.

The nose is brimming with earthy and warm floral notes of clove, sandalwood, and baking spice. This vintage is not shy; it covers your palate with red and black fruits and is replete with succulent flavors of black cherry, creme de cassis and plum compote. Gorgeous, taut tannins give the wine definition and weight, elongating its already lengthy finish.

The 2017 will evolve slowly into a more subtle and nuanced experience but is lusciously bold at the time of its release.

Praise for Unwritten’s 2017 Vintage

94+ Points

Lisa Perotti-Brown, Robert Parker Wine Advocate

The deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon springs from the glass with alluring scents of blueberry compote, blackberry preserves and warm cassis plus hints of rose oil, cedar chest and Chinese five spice. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is completely packed with juicy black fruits and loads of spicy accents, framed by plush tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing on a soft-spoken earthy note. Nice newbie! 142 cases were made.

9 and 9.5 points

Alder Yarrow, Vinography

Medium to dark garnet in color, this wine smells of bright sweet cherry fruit. In the mouth, juicy and bright cherry and cola notes are mouthwatering in their purity and freshness. Faint tannins and hints of floral and plum notes dance around the palate thanks to fantastic acidity. A little on the candied side of things, but it’s hard not to love the purity of the fruit and the absence of significant new oak influence. The acidity is so bright there’s even an orange-peel note in the finish. 14.8% alcohol. Score: between 9 and 9.5. Cost: $150.
