Limited quantities are available.
The nose opens with sweet black currant, vanilla and toast highlights, along with a tantalizing aroma of spices. While the 2014 Unwritten dazzled with purity of fruit, the 2015 has an impressive cashmere-like texture on the palate, showing beautifully integrated flavors of blackberry, cassis, espresso and toast. The finish is exceptionally long, providing an additional 30+ seconds of enjoyment.
Elegant and subtle flavors of anise, spice and vanilla support the primary flavors, with perfectly balanced acid and tannins providing the structure that will allow this to age effortlessly for 10-20 years, promising many years of delight.
“Many wineries claim that their wines emulate the incredible Napa Valley Cabernets of the 1970’s; this wine actually achieves that style.
The 2016 Unwritten Cabernet Sauvignon from St Helena is a study in elegance. On the nose there are scents of tobacco leaf, forest floor and acacia flower. The palate displays flavors of red currant, anise and a sophisticated note of iron/clay minerality.
Perfectly integrated tannins seamlessly support the body of the wine throughout the palate.
The 2016 is a graceful wine that can be enjoyed now or cellared for future enjoyment.
It is refreshing to see wines being made in this refined style again.”
Willi Sherer, Master Sommelier
The 2017 Unwritten is a consummate example of a young, fresh Cabernet Sauvignon, that is accessible and enjoyable now but has the density and complexity to evolve into a truly epic wine.
The nose is brimming with earthy and warm floral notes of clove, sandalwood, and baking spice. This vintage is not shy; it covers your palate with red and black fruits and is replete with succulent flavors of black cherry, creme de cassis, and plum compote. Gorgeous, taut tannins give the wine definition and weight, elongating its already lengthy finish.
The 2017 will evolve slowly into a more subtle and nuanced experience but is lusciously bold at the time of its release.
